Gilbert Gardiner gives his top 5 winning rides of the Jamie Kah record breaking phenomenon

In Jamie Kah’s race to the magical 100 winner mark she landed plenty of big race winners but also a stack of winners taking out midweek races around the traps.

I’ve gone back over this remarkable achievement and come up with my Top 5 winning rides for the champion hoop.

1. MR QUICKIE, Oct 10 Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), Caulfield $21
Sticky draw for a noted swooper yet from barrier two Kah rode Mr Quickie positively out of the machine to settle sixth – three back on the rail. Popped out between horses entering the straight and surged to an emphatic victory.

2. NATURE STRIP, Feb 13 Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m), Flemington $4.40
One of the hardest jobs in racing has been trying to work out the enigmatic Nature Strip, but Kah did it with aplomb. After standing like a lamb for Kah behind the barriers the son of Nicconi jumped and trailed the speedy Pippie in the run. As Nature Strip laid in towards the rail – at the 300m – Kah went with him instead of fighting the horse and won the race as a result.

.@jamieleekah07 and Nature Strip have done it!

3. SOUND, Nov 14 Group 2 Zipping Classic (2400m), Sandown $5
Sound was 19 starts without a win in Australia before Kah‘s decisive mid-race move at Sandown to take advantage of a slow tempo. Kah caught her rivals napping by taking off at the 1400m. German import Sound sustained a strong gallop to win comfortably at the finish.

Another fantastic ride from Jamie Kah gets Sound over the line to win the Group 2 Zipping Classic. ??@[email protected]/U2twJDAt7U

4. VICTORIA QUAY, Oct 31 Group 2 Wakeful Stakes, Flemington $7
Stalked favourite Personal in the run and slid up outside the eventual Group 1 Oaks winner in the straight. They went stride for stride, Personal, with Damien Oliver aboard, looked to be going the better before Kah pulled the whip in the left to straighten up Victoria Quay and mount the winning charge.

And of course, Jamie Kah is on the board early at @FlemingtonVRC.

5. ZOUSONIC, Sep 2 Benchmark 70 (1300m), Bendigo $9.50
Third last on the rail approaching the bend with nine lengths to make up it looked an impossible position. Not for Kah. She slid off the paint and fanned to the middle of the track and went to work on Zousonic. Despite wanting to lay in the gelding responded to the urgings and direction of Kah to snare the unlikeliest of wins.

ZOUSONIC FROM LAST ? what a run! Despite the awkward barrier! Absolute peach of a ride from @jamieleekah07 this mare gets the win on the line! What a run, congratulations to connections #racewithezrpic.twitter.com/0tIqIbTtgm

Honourable mentions: Bella Vella (Group 2 McEwen Stakes), La Mexicana (Listed William Crockett Stakes), Rebel Racer (BM64), Cumberbatch (3YO Hcp) and Snickerdoodledandy (BM84).
