Cheltenham Festival jockey spotted stark naked in background of TV broadcast

He's ridden more than 600 career winners, established a reputation among the best jockeys in the history of the sport, and appeared NAKED on ITV – fair to say Patrick Mullins has done it all!

Although fans might not be so familiar with the latter of those achievements. But while many punters ready their voices, and wallets, for the iconic Cheltenham Festival next week, those who have always keenly watched on television will be familiar with the hilarious saga.

Back in 2017, Mullins was in the weighing room while a fellow jockey was being filmed shaking hands with a rival before being interviewed shortly before a race. Not that Mullins seemed to notice the cameras as he made his way back from the showers.

As the footage was being aired on ITV, one correspondent quipped: "We saw sportsmanship earlier. That is so good to see in the weighing room. What racing is all about."

As he delivered the last line, the 33-year-old unwittingly waltzed through the room completely starkers. Neither the interviewee or the journalist on hand seemed to notice, but millions of viewers sat at home watching on most definitely did.

Soon, Twitter was awash with comments about the fleeting appearance of the rider. Many of course, made a comical reference to his famous father and race trainer, 'Willie' Mullins.

The Festival will run from March 14-17, with nearly 70,000 punters expected to attend over the three days. And indeed, the issue of nakedness has already risen this time around, although it has nothing to do with Mullins.

Controversially, the local Under The Prom nightclub applied for a temporary sexual entertainment venue licence. And to the delight of some race-goers, but possibly to the horror of nearby residents and purists, the application duly proved successful.

Eroticats will be open from 6pm to 5am on all four nights of the famous extravaganza. Conveniently, the opening hours have been designed to capitalise on punters as they make their way back into the town after a day out, although unlike with Mullins, viewing won't be free.
