Ayrton ready to return on Memsie Stakes day after stylish jumpout
Golden Eagle favourite Ayrton is ready to return to the races on Saturday week after another pleasing jumpout at Caulfield on Tuesday.
Ayrton heads betting on the $7.5m Golden Eagle at $6 after posting wins at four of his first five starts for trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr.
Kent Jr confirmed Ayrton would resume in an open handicap at Caulfield on Memsie Stakes day.
“We’ll just go to the open handicap there, mindful that his grand final is still a long way away,” he said.
“He’s still a big, raw immature horse.
“Hopefully, he can go and win but it’s a nice kick-off point for him. He can just walk down from his box to the tie-up stalls and have a nice gallop around.”
Kent Jr said he and Price were unsure where Ayrton would have the second and third runs of his spring campaign.
The Golden Eagle on October 30 will likely be Ayrton’s fourth run of the preparation.

Ayrton stepped out in the first heat of Tuesday’s jumpout session at Caulfield.
The four-year-old finished third in the jumpout.
Kent Jr said the four-year-old thrilled jockey Jamie Kah with his effort over 800m.
“He finished third on the line, but he kept gliding past them with that big stride of his,” Kent Jr said.
“He was always doing it easy, and his biggest asset is sustained speed like a lot of good horses.
“We clocked it as the second fastest time of the morning.
“It was lovely just to see a bit of speed in front of him. He got into his groove.”
Ayrton had not raced since his dominant win in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1600) at Eagle Farm in June.
Kent Jr said Ayrton needed last week’s Cranbourne trial, which brought him on for Tuesday’s hitout.
“It was good to see how much he’d improved from that first trial eight days ago to this morning,” Kent Jr said.
“He’s improved an enormous amount and he should take similar benefit again from this.”
