A half-brother to exciting sprinter Exceedance expected to star at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale

This striking chestnut colt is expected to be one of several “million dollar babies” to go through the ring on the opening day of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale which starts at the Riverside Stables on Tuesday.

The yearling colt by first season sire sensation Capitalist, is a half-brother to brilliant Group 1-winning sprinter Exceedance and it is likely the winning bidder will need to sign a cheque for more than $1 million to take him home.

But million-dollar bids will be commonplace at the Easter Sale, the most important yearling auction in the southern hemisphere with 406 yearlings to go under the hammer over the next two days.

After the coronavirus pandemic turned the Easter Sale into a digital auction only last year, buyers are back creating a real buzz inspecting yearlings on the sale eve at the Inglis complex on Warwick Farm racecourse in recent days.

“There are plenty of people here but it is primarily a domestic buying bench due to Covid,” Inglis managing director Mark Webster said.

“Last year, the Easter Sale was more challenging for us because the horses weren’t present on sale day as they were all on farms.

“But having all the yearlings here this week simplifies things and for those international buyers who want to participate remotely we have people on the ground to feed them information.

“I don’t think we will get the same level of international bidding as there is nothing like being here but I genuinely believe this creates good opportunities for our local buyers.”

The yearling catalogue is said to be as good as any Inglis has compiled for the Easter Sale and includes 15 yearlings by Capitalist plus huge representations for super sires I Am Invincible (48) and Snitzel (42).

It is also the end of an era in Australian breeding with champion stallions Redoute’s Choice (seven) and Sebring (14) represented by their last yearlings to be sold at the Easter Sale.
