Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa will both tee up together at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Golf event on Thursday. The pair will be joined by South Korea’s Sungjae Im at 2:25am BST in Thursday’s opening round, forming one of the featured groups at the opening day of the Olympic event at Kasumigaseki Country Club.
Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino will open up the event in his native country, as he heads out in the first group at 11:30pm BST on Wednesday alongside Thomas Pieters of Belgium and Austria’s Sepp Straka.
Team GB representatives Paul Casey and Tommy Fleetwood will tee up just over two hours apart, with Casey the first to head out at 12:25am alongside world number four, and Team USA member Justin Thomas, as well as Joaquin Niemann of Chile.
Fleetwood will then follow at 2:36am, playing with Shane Lowry of Ireland, and Team USA replacement, Patrick Reed who comes in, in place of Bryson DeChambeau after the 2020 US Open champion tested positive for Covid-19.
World number one John Rahm will also be missing from the Olympic field after he also tested positive for coronavirus for the second time in under three months.
Jorge Campillo replaces Rahm for Team Spain, joining up with fellow countryman, Adri Arnaus to complete the field.
