A £360,000 customised Porsche reportedly owed by American golf star Patrick Reed has been auctioned on a salvage website, prompting a mystery over how the vehicle became extensively damaged.

The 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS was listed on the website Copart, a car auction company that resells new, used, and salvaged cars.

Copart confirmed damage all over the vehicle, with pictures showing a destroyed front bumper on the driver’s side, which has exposed the wheel.

Both sides of the car have received extensive damage, including to the roof, with the photos also showing that the airbags went off in an apparent crash.

The damage was sustained with just 361 miles on the clock.

Extensive damage was also showed inside the car which has now been auctioned for £106,000

Joe Pompliano reported that the car may belong with Liv Golf star Reed.

The American golfer had revealed he had had bought a ‘commemorative Masters’ Porsche GT2RS back in 2019.

Only 1,000 of the limited edition supercars were reportedly made in the United States, with the vehicle identification number matching Reed’s vehicle.

The custom design matches photos posted by the 32-year-old on Instagram back in 2019.

Reed bought the custom car following his victory at the 2018 Masters, which saw him claim the first major of his career.

He received $1.98million (£1.59m) in prize money for the triumph.

According to GolfWeek, Reed had the car customised to match with the green jacket, which is famously given to winners of the tournament at Augusta National.

Photos of Reed’s car in 2019 show the vehicle with a green colour, complete with yellow trim and brake calipers.

Reed has yet confirm whether the vehicle listed on the salvage website is his and the circumstances which caused the extensive damage to the car.

The car has now been sold at auction for $132,000 (£106,000).

Reed had enjoyed a strong performance at this year’s Masters, with the American tying for fourth at the tournament earlier this month.

The finish saw Reed earn $744,000 (£597,00).

The American is among the highest profile members of LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed breakaway series which is rivalling the PGA Tour.
