England have called up Will Jacks for the one-day section of their white-ball tour of Bangladesh following Tom Abell’s injury withdrawal last week.
The original plan was for England to operate with a 14-man squad across both 50-over and Twenty20 series when the uncapped Somerset captain Abell pulled out due to a side strain.
However, Jacks has been summoned early from Wellington, where he was an unused member of England’s Test tour, following a re-think.
He had been due to travel here next week, accompanied by Ben Duckett, for the three T20 internationals.
Jacks, 24, has forged a reputation as one of the hardest-hitting batters on the global circuit, smashing Southern Brave’s attack for 108 off just 48 balls in last year’s Hundred, while his developing off-spin will provide an extra bowling option in Asian conditions.

Significantly, England’s ODI world title defence takes place in India later this year.
The Surrey and Oval Invincibles all-rounder is yet to win a one-day cap for England but played twice in last autumn’s 4-3 Twenty20 win in Pakistan and claimed six wickets on his Test debut in Rawalpindi in early December.
He was due to be in Dhaka in time for Sunday’s full squad practice and will come under consideration for selection in the first of three ODIs on Wednesday.
That match at Mirpur begins just hours after the second Test in New Zealand is scheduled to conclude.
