England’s thrilling attempt to regain the Ashes from Australia will feature in a new series of popular Amazon documentary, The Test.

Mail Sport has learned that Pat Cummins’ tourists have been accompanied to England by a film crew from Amazon, who have been granted behind-the-scenes access to the Australian dressing room, team meetings and hotels throughout the five-match series.

Amazon do not have access to England’s private areas, but will have cameras around the boundary areas at the four remaining Tests picking up additional footage of both sets of players.

Domestic rights holders Sky Sports are also expected to permit Amazon to use some live action despite being commercial rivals.

The first series of The Test was broadcast in 2020 and followed the rebirth of Australian cricket following the Sandpaper-gate scandal under captain Tim Paine and coach Justin Langer, including both the 2019 Ashes in England and that year’s 50 over World Cup.

Amazon have filmed behind the scenes in the Australian dressing room for two seasons

A second series aired earlier this year which majored on the Covid-interrupted 2021/22 Ashes Down Under as well as Australia’s successful tours to Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The current Ashes, which resumes at Lord’s next Wednesday with England 1-0 down following their dramatic defeat at Edgbaston, will feature in a third series of The Test to be released next year.
