Jubilant England fans have demanded Ben Stokes be given a knighthood after his heroics delivered more World Cup glory.
England’s talisman struck an unbeaten 52 off 49 balls as they chased down a target of 138 with five wickets in hand to beat Pakistan in Melbourne.
It means England are now reigning world champions in the 20-over and 50-over formats after Stokes was also instrumental in their 2019 final win over New Zealand at Lord’s.

And happy fans reacted to the latest Stokes-inspired triumph by calling on King Charles to make him Sir Ben Stokes in the next honours list.
‘Why is Ben Stokes not a knight of the realm yet?! What does the guy have to do?! Incredible career,’ wrote one fan on Twitter.
Another posted: ‘Make Ben Stokes a knight NOW. Every f**king final man he just becomes this all conquering 6ft+ ginger invincible that is totally infallible. Cricket is home.’
One other tweet said: ‘If Charles doesn’t knight Ben Stokes I’m kicking off – what a player.’

Another fans suggested an even higher honour for Stokes, who grew up in the Cumbrian town of Cockermouth: ‘Benjamin. Andrew. Stokes. Knight him. Declare Cumbria and independent nation and make him king.’
England captain Jos Buttler hailed ‘ultimate competitor’ Stokes after yet another match-winning batting performance in a World Cup final.
‘He is the ultimate competitor in anything he does,’ Buttler said on Sky Sports.
‘He has a lot of experience to bank on as well, he can take a lot on his shoulders. At times you’re thinking it must be time for him to go and get us over that line but he timed it perfectly.’
