Australia dominate New Zealand in T20 World Cup final to win maiden title

Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood starred in the T20 World Cup final as Australia beat New Zealand in Dubai to secure their maiden title.

Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson scored a brilliant 85 from 48 balls to take his side to 170-4, having been 57-1 at the halfway stage.

Australia pace bowler Hazlewood was brilliant, claiming figures of 3-16, but Mitchell Starc’s four-over spell cost 60 runs as New Zealand fought back in the second-half of their innings.

New Zealand’s total felt defendable but Marsh (77 not out from 50 balls) and David Warner (53 from 38 balls) hit destructive half-centuries and New Zealand’s spinners struggled badly as Australia cruised to victory with eight wickets and seven balls remaining.
