Anderson’s emotional message after being denied chance to play at home ground
James Anderson has posted an emotional message after the cancellation of the final England vs India Test match denied him the opportunity to bowl at his home ground Old Trafford.
Anderson has spent his entire professional career at Lancashire and the club renamed the Pavilion End after him back in 2017.
However, with Anderson now 39-years-old, he may not get the chance to bowl at Old Trafford for England again.
The veteran has stated that he plans to play international cricket for at least one more summer, but Old Trafford is not currently scheduled to host a Test next year.
In a post on Instagram, Anderson wrote: "It’s such a shame the summer of international cricket ended this way.
"I’m gutted for everyone at @lancashirecricket, for the fans who paid for tickets/trains/hotels, for both sets of supporters that wanted to see the finish this series deserved.
"I hope it will be played again at some point and I hope I will get to play another international game at my home ground that I love so much."

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Lancashire legend and former England coach David Lloyd claimed Anderson had been denied the chance of a "final hurrah" at Old Trafford.
He wrote: "It might be that India's refusal to fulfil their commitment and play the final Test denied Jimmy Anderson a final hurrah on a ground which bears his name at one end.
"But the damage is much deeper than that and makes Jimmy’s personal situation incidental.
"He might not make another England appearance at his home of Emirates Old Trafford, although if you know Jimmy, you will realise there will be no fuss.
"The lad’s from Burnley – they don’t do fuss. They’re tough people from his neck of the woods and he won’t want a fanfare. "
