World title fight added to Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley undercard

Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley will fight in Cleveland on August 29, and there will be a pound-for-pound great world champion defending her titles on the undercard.

Multiple-weight world champion Amanda Serrano will face Yamileth Mercado for her WBC and WBO featherweight titles in the first undercard bout that has been announced.

The rest of the undercard will be confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday which takes place in Los Angeles, California.

Speaking on Instagram after the bout announcement, Serrano said she was excited for the opportunity to share a card with YouTube star Paul for a second time.

"In what promises to be a real war both myself WBC 122lb world champ Yamileth Mercado promise to leave it all in the ring Sunday August 29th in Cleveland on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley," she said.

"I have the upmost respect for this hungry young warrior and know it’s not going to be easy to keep my titles.

"I always ask for the best and that’s what she is, thank you champ for taking the fight and being my fight partner on this one."

Serrano and Paul were both featured on the undercard of Demetrius Andrade's world title defence against Luke Keeler in January 2020 in Miami, which was promoted by Eddie Hearn.

Paul fought fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, while Serrano faced Simone Aparecida Da Silva in what was supposed to be a tune-up fight for a unification bout with Katie Taylor, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They both handily defeated their opponents, with Paul earning a first round TKO while Serrano got a few more rounds in before finishing in the third.

And they were reunited for a photoshoot in California yesterday before their press conference which takes place at 9pm British time tonight.

"Wow this guy Jake Paul isn’t playing," she told her 95,000+ fans on Instagram under a picture of the pair in the ring together.

"He is putting in the work like no other and this is the reason why he’s improving daily.

"BJ Flores is an excellent trainer with a sharp eye for accurate execution.

"After my fight I’ll sit front row and watch his KO! Oh yeah he’s getting it."

Paul and Woodley went face-to-face at a media day ahead of his brother Logan's fight with Floyd Mayweather last month, but will officially confirm their bout later today.

The YouTube star is 3-0 as a professional, defeating NBA star Nate Robinson in his second bout, and former UFC fighter and Olympic wrestler Ben Askren earlier this year in his third.

Woodley is a notable step up in competition; as a former UFC welterweight champion he was known for his striking prowess and knocked out renowned stand-up fighters like Robbie Lawlor during his career.

Paul has drafted in a number of top MMA fighters to his Puerto Rico training camp where he is coached by BJ Flores and J'Leon Love.

Ex-UFC fighter Te Edwards is training with the YouTuber in Dorado, as well as former Bellator star Anthony 'Pretty Boy' Taylor.
