Wild theory says Jake Paul is ‘better than Muhammad Ali’ and all-time best ever
Jake Paul may have never fought as a professional boxer before, but a wild internet theory claims he's the best fighter of all time.
Ben Askren was defeated by YouTube star Paul on Saturday night in Atlanta.
The former Bellator welterweight champion and Olympic wrestler hadn't fought competitively since 2019, but opted to come out of retirement to face the internet phenomenon.
He enjoyed a long and successful career in The Octagon, with wins over some big names including Robbie Lawler.
And according to a bizarre internet theory, that win over Lawler qualified him to be the best fighter of all-time before being beaten by Paul.
As a result of a strange chain of victories, Askren's wins can be traced back to legendary heavyweight Muhammad Ali.
The theory – remember to take this with a pinch of salt – goes that because of Paul's win over Askren, the YouTube star can now be recognised as the best of all time.
Here's the full run-down of the bizarre chain of victories.

Paul beat Askren. Askren beat Lawler. Lawler beat Rory Macdonald. Macdonald beat Tyron Woodley, who beat Darren Till, who beat Kelvin Gastelum.
Gastelum defeated Michael Bisping, who in turn has a win over Dan Henderson, who beat Fedor Emilianko, who beat Frank Mir. Mir beat Brock Lesnar, who beat Randy Couture.
This is where the old-school fighters start to come into the conversation.
Couture beat legendary boxer James Toney in the latter's only mixed martial arts fight.
But in the boxing ring, Toney has a win over Evander Holyfield, who beat Larry Holmes, who famously defeated Ali in 1980.
Trace that string of results back to Saturday night, and – Paul enters the conversation for best fighter of all time.
That being said, the social media star is yet to box another professional fighter.
