Tyson Fury ‘targeted for a mega-money fight in China by Zhilei Zhang with two venues shortlisted’, as Joe Joyce’s conqueror insists he could KNOCK OUT the Gypsy King
- Zhilei Zhang earned the WBO interim heavyweight title by beating Joe Joyce
- The Chinese boxer has targeted a showdown against WBC title holder Tyson Fury
- Zhang’s camp reportedly have identified two possible venues for the fight
Zhilei Zhang has targeted a big-money fight against Tyson Fury in China following his shock victory over Joe Joyce on Saturday.
The Chinese boxer beat Joyce by sixth round technical knockout after the Brit suffered a serious eye injury.
Zhang earned the WBO interim heavyweight title by beating Joyce, who had previously been unbeaten as a professional.
The title makes Zhang the WBO’s mandatory challenger to Oleksandr Usyk, although the Ukrainian is first expected to face Britain’s Daniel Dubois.
Zhang was asked who his preferred next opponent would be, with the 39-year-old setting his sights on Fury.

The 39-year-old has insisted he could knock-out Fury, claiming the unbeaten WBC title holder does not have the same chin as Joyce to withstand a similar barrage.
‘Tyson Fury in China,’ Zhang told iFL TV.
‘Let’s do that, if my team says that let’s do that, I can go either way.
‘He doesn’t have that chin, he will go down.’
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren claimed last month that the Gypsy King could retire from boxing again, after talks over an undisputed heavyweight clash against Usyk broke down.
According to the Sun, Zhang’s camp have targeted a fight at the 80,000-capacity Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing or at the MGM casino in Macau.
The location would open up the possibility of a lucrative fight, amid claims Zhang’s victory over Joyce had been watched by 60 million people in China.
Zhang has not fought in his homeland since beating Don Haynesworth back in 2018.

Victory over Joyce saw Zhang’s professional record improve to 25 wins from his 27 fights, with one draw and a single defeat.
The loss against Filip Hrgovic last August, with the Beijing 2008 silver medallist having been considered unfortunate to have been the wrong end of a unanimous decision.
Despite Zhang eyeing a potential fight with Fury, he could be back in action against Joyce.
Promoter George Warren revealed there is a rematch clause in place should Joyce decide to active it.
