Tyson Fury sets Oleksandr Usyk deadline after naming obscene asking price

Tyson Fury has set a seven-day deadline for Oleksandr Usyk to respond to his £500million purse demand.

Fury has confirmed he is willing to step out of retirement and attempt to unify the heavyweight division for the first time in the five-belt era. Usyk has also insisted it's the only fight he's interested in after defeating Anthony Joshua twice.

The Gypsy King said: "To all the suitors out there who want to make the fight, I'm going to give you all seven days, till September 1 to come up with the money; if not, thank you very much, it's been a blast and I'm retired."

Fury then told talkSPORT he would only come out of retirement against an 'unknown quantity' for an 'obscene' amount of money for Usyk's chance at 'legendary status'.

The Gypsy King insisted this bout will all be about money – unlike Joshua who he would have battled 'for free in London'. He claimed Floyd Mayweather earned £400million facing Manny Pacquiao, and he wants £500million for facing Usyk.

It would be the first time since 1999 that the heavyweight division would be unified should the pair square off – and the first time in the five-belt era.

Both boxers remain unblemished in their careers, but Usyk holds a slight advantage having already unified the cruiserweight division.

Usyk earned himself a mandatory title opportunity in the heavyweights as a result, dethroning Joshua last September before repeating the feat earlier this month.
