Tyson Fury says he wants a cross-gender fight against Savannah Marshall
Tyson Fury issued a tongue-in-cheek challenge to female boxer Savannah Marshall.
The Gypsy King has declared he has ‘no interest’ in facing Joe Joyce, who called him out for a fight earlier this week.
Fury, 33, jokingly said he would instead like to face the WBO female middleweight champion, who used to spar with Tyson's younger brother Tommy, and is full of praise for the athlete.
“I’m not really interested in fighting Joe Joyce,'' Fury toldIFL TV.
“I’m probably looking at someone like Savannah Marshall to fight in a cross-gender heavyweight championship match-up.
“That is more interesting to me. I really do rate Savannah as a fighter, I think she’s an unbelievable fighter and I’d be really interested in making the fight to be honest.
“She’s a big girl and a super-middleweight I think, so I’d come down to like 17st from 20 and she could come up from like 12st or something and do a cross-gender fight… I’m being serious.”
Fury is set to face a frustrating wait for confirmation of his mandatory fight against Dillian Whyte as the WBC failed to order the fight.
Whyte was scheduled to fight Otto Wallin on October 30 – but the bout was cancelled when the Brit was forced to withdraw with a shoulder injury.
It was widely expected that the sanctioning body would officially call for the fight between Fury and Whyte at their convention last week, but that didn't happen because Whyte is in an ongoing legal battle with the WBC over the mandatory position.

When asked if he was frustrated by the latest setback regarding the Whyte fight, Fury said: “I’m not bothered, I’m enjoying myself on a daily basis.
"But I’ll be looking forward to that fight with Savannah if Usyk and Joshua don’t happen.
“I’ve always said that I’m only interested in two fights – Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk.
"Apart from that I’m not interested.
“But I would be open to fighting Savannah Marshall – the challenge is out there Savannah. Take it up.”
Fury is currently helping to train younger brother Tommy for his much-anticipated boxing match with Jake Paul next month.
