Tyson Fury hopes history repeats itself with bold Wilder fight prediction

Heavyweight titans Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder met last night in the first press conference for their upcoming trilogy contest, and the event was interesting, to say the least.

Wilder spoke first, addressing the media very briefly before returning to his seat and placing headphones on. The former Olympian would refuse to answer all other questions.

“I’d like to thank my lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. I’d like to thank my amazing team and I’d like to thank my strong legal team as well.

“Look, enough said. Time to cut off his head. Because on July 24th , there will be bloodshed.”

Fury held court for the rest of the press conference, discussing his preparation for the upcoming bout, predicting the outcome of it, and even attacking Wilder’s new head trainer, Malik Scott, who answered questions on the Bronze Bomber’s behalf.

Fury claimed that Wilder’s decision to not answer questions showed “how weak of a mental person he is and how much that the beating from the last fight has taken an emotional and physical effect on his life.

“I was worried about Deontay Wilder for quite a while,” Fury said.

“Obviously he’s doing his little thing with his earphones on and doesn’t want to answer any questions. That’s up to him, but I’m here to promote a fight and talk to the press.”

“He’s employed Malik Scott to help him. As Malik said, Wilder is a stubborn person. He’s got his own mentality and he wants to do things his own way.

“To listen to other people is not what Deontay Wilder does. No matter how much Malik teacher Deontay, Deontay’s going to do what Deontay’s going to do.”

Fury went on to reveal that he had previously sparred with Scott and that things didn’t go too well for Wilder’s new head coach, with Scott admitting “you busted my eardrum when we sparred.”

Fury responded “I know. You can’t teach him to be some great fighter when you wasn’t.”

The Gypsy King then predicted the outcome of the fight, but not without firing yet another shot at Scott.

“I’m going to state it here first, that he’s going to be the same old Deontay Wilder that we’ve always seen.

“Just because you’ve both had your eardrums burst in sparring and fights; it is what it is. I can’t see him doing anything different.

“Deontay Wilder’s a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that. What I’m going to do to Deontay Wilder this time, is I’m going to run him over as if I’m an 18-wheeler and he’s a human being.

“I guarantee you he does not go past where he did before [the 7th round]. Before I had only 5 or 6 weeks of practicing. This time I’ve had 18 months.

“I don’t believe he’s mentally, physically or emotionally involved in this fight. I think he’s doing it for the wrong reasons and when people do things for the wrong reasons, they always wind up getting hurt.

“We’ll see on fight night if I can run him over quicker than round 7, and I think I do, for sure.”

Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III is set to take place on July 24th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the WBC and Ring Magazine heavyweight titles on the line.
