Tyron Woodley’s coach responds to fans’ claims that Jake Paul KO was ‘fixed’
Tyron Woodley's coach has squashed rumours of a fix in his brutal knockout loss to Jake Paul.
The former UFC welterweight champion was granted a short-notice rematch against Paul after the pair had gone the distance in August, but was viciously stopped in the sixth round for his sixth consecutive combat sports defeat.
Woodley dropped his left hand, which left him open to a brutal right from Paul that knocked him unconscious, with the error causing many to call the fight a fix.
And his trainer Din Thomas, with whom he has worked for years since his days as a top MMA fighter, joked that he would have taken the night off and partied had the fight been rigged.
Speaking with MMA on Sirius XM , Thomas laughed off claims of a fix involving his fighter and his boxing rival.
"That whole theory, it makes me laugh," Thomas said. "Because being in his camp, I know how serious it was.
"It was serious like Tyron really wanted this win back, he really wanted this fight and it was a serious thing.
"Now, if it was a dive, I wish they told me about it because I wouldn't have shown up and taken the night off.
"I'd be like partying but that wasn't the case. I mean it was a real, legit fight."
The fight was a cagey affair from the first bell, with neither man looking to take major risks knowing the other's potential knockout power.
Nothing of note had happened in the fight when Woodley made the mistake of dropping his hand that allowed Paul to land a knockout that has since gone viral and been watched millions of times.
Woodley has insisted that he won't retire despite losing his two boxing matches with Paul after being released following four consecutive UFC bouts.

He was plotting a bumper year in 2022 where he would compete four times in four separate disciplines, with a boxing match, a return to MMA, a fight in Triller's new Triad Combat hybrid sport and a fourth as-yet undetermined combat style.
And he has promised to fulfil that plan, despite being handed a 60-day medical suspension by the Florida Athletic Commission following the knockout loss.
Paul, on the other hand, has a number of options for his return to the ring, where he will look to build on his flawless 5-0 record which includes four knockouts.
Former world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has said an offer was made to set him up as Paul's next opponent, while the possibility of rescheduling a fight with the 7-0 Tommy Fury is also a real possibility.
It remains to be seen when Paul will return, as he has said he plans to take some time off to go on holiday with girlfriend Julia Rose before moving on to his next challenge in the boxing ring.
