Tommy Fury sparring partner pinpoints difference maker in Jake Paul fight

Tommy Fury's sparring partner Jimmy Kelly believes his jab will be too much to handle for Jake Paul in their hotly-anticipated fight.

The younger brother of world champion Tyson will finally square off with YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul in Saudi Arabia on Sunday (February 26) at the third time of asking, with their previous two scheduled bouts having been cancelled.

As both are still in the formative years of their careers – holding 8-0 and 5-0 records respectively – opinion is extremely divided on who will emerge victorious. But Fury's fellow Mancunian and long-time training partner Kelly can only see the fight going one way.

He told Daily Star Sport: "I just see Tommy out-boxing him, just using his range. I don't think Jake will be able to get past Tommy's jab, I think he's gonna struggle getting past Tommy's jab.

"And Tommy will just box and use his distance and I think towards the end he'll start countering, jab, step back, big right hands or uppercuts down the pipe."

The pressure is very much on Fury to live up to his fighting family name, with dad John threatening to retire him from the sport if he loses to Paul.

Kelly, however, believes he would still have a future in the ring as Paul's credentials deserve respect.

The 27-3 middleweight, who himself fought this week and secured a comfortable points victory over Edward Ulloa Diaz, added: "Jake's done some good stuff in regards to, he's beat Anderson Silva and what not. He will beat some decent level boxers.

"Tommy's young, he's 23, if he were to get beat, which I don't think he will, there's always a way back. Go eat a bit of humble pie and just rebuild but I just don't see that happening, I think it's there for him."
