Tommy Fury pulls out of Jake Paul fight as Tyron Woodley steps in for rematch
Tommy Fury has pulled out of his fight with Jake Paul.
The grudge bout was due to take place on December 18 in Florida but Fury, brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson, has withdrawn.
Fury has been suffering from a cold in recent weeks and has been absent from training videos posted by his brother, but no reason has been given for his withdrawal.
He will be replaced by Tyron Woodley who was beaten by Paul in August.
Fury was due to head to Florida this week to link up with coach SugarHill Steward having been trained by Tyson since the fight was confirmed.
Paul, who has won his four previous professional bouts, was facing a significant step up in opposition against Fury.
The 22-year-old has won all seven of his paid fights to date, albeit against limited opposition, but dismissed claims Paul would be the toughest test of his career.
“Hype doesn’t win fights, fighting wins fights,” he said. “I’m not even engaged in all of this. I’ve not been on Instagram because I don’t care.
“I don’t care what he says, does or thinks because it’s not important because when he jumps through those ropes on December 18 and when he realises I’m not a YouTuber, I’m not a basketball player, I’m not a wrestler, I’m not a UFC fighter, he’ll get hit with a nice, sharp jab.”
"He’s going to be thinking ‘what have I signed myself up for?’ here."

Paul's previous opponents ranged from fellow social media star AnEsonGib to former NBA star Nate Robinson to ex-UFC stars Ben Askren and Woodley.
But he insists he has ambitions to become world champion within 10 fights.
"The sky is the limit for me right now," Paul said during a lengthy Q&A session on his Youtube channel, responding to a question about his ultimate boxing goal.
"If I want to accomplish something it's all about me being able to do that and me making the commitment and putting in the work required to do that.
"But I think right now, going to 10-0, being undefeated, fighting some big names, making history and maybe taking a world championship belt from somebody just to say I did it, and retiring at 10-0."
