The Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul fight ticked everyone off, from boxing fans to Canelo Alvarez
How much would you pay to watch a circus on pay-per-view?
While a boxing bout by definition, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul fight that took place Sunday night was missing a ref, judges, a ringleader and elephants balancing on a beach ball. The boxing GOAT and the internet celebrity went eight rounds of clinching fun for a cool 50 bucks on PPV. No winner was declared.
While the bout was billed and sold as an exhibition fight, it embodied everything that’s questionable about boxing in 2021: an eight-round glorified (and seemingly scripted) bout between a boxing star past his prime putting money before honor (to be fair, who can blame him?) and a YouTube star whose forays into a boxing ring seem like a bit of a leap after making his bones on Vine.

With all this in mind, nearly everyone who tuned in to last night’s circus was left unsatisfied and unentertained, from fight fans on up to boxing great Canelo Alvarez:
