Andrew Tate has revealed that he was offered a fight against Floyd Mayweather but that he couldn’t draw himself to accept it as he is his hero. The controversial internet personality is a former kickboxing world champion and has been linked to multiple big-money fights in recent months.

Logan and Jake Paul have both previously called out The Cobra. However, Tate – who retired from combat sports in 2020 with a 43-9 kickboxing record and a 1-0 professional MMA record – doesn’t appear to have much interest in entertaining a return to the squared circle.

Tate shrugged off Logan’s call out by offering to buy him a £4.3million ($5m) Bugatti supercar instead. Meanwhile, Jake was taken more seriously with Tate and his brother Tristan meeting up with The Problem Child’s manager Nakisa Bidarian in August to discuss the fight – but again nothing came of it.

Now, Tate has disclosed that he was also approached to face Mayweather during an interview with podcaster Rob Moore.

“No and I got offered that fight,” Tate replied when asked about whether he would fight Mayweather. “I got offered that fight and he is one of my heroes so I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Even though he is small, and he is so good, but he is retired it is Floyd Mayweather. I am a lot bigger than him, and I wouldn’t be knocked out and I would be fine.

“He is one of my heroes and I think he is the best boxer of all-time and I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I love his story, I love his confidence, I love how every single word out of his mouth is self-hypnosis and I love how he hypnotises his opponents.

“I love his style; everyone says he is boring. He is not boring and if you appreciate defence, he is the best he has ever been. So, I couldn’t bring myself to throw a punch, I have very few heroes, but he is one of them.”

Since retiring from professional boxing in 2017, Mayweather has continued to box in lucrative exhibition bouts across the globe. His next fight comes against YouTube star Deji Olatunji on November 13 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

This will mark TBE’s fifth post-retirement contest having already boxed kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa, the aforementioned Logan Paul, former sparring partner Don Moore, and MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura.
