Savannah Marshall issued a savage response when Claressa Shields offered her pre-fight bet with the two boxing rivals set to go head-to-head in a blockbuster clash this weekend.

Undefeated star Marshall is set to put her WBO female middleweight title on the line at The O2 Arena, whilst also vying to win the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBF and The Ring belts off her American opponent. And sure enough, the build-up to the unification clash has been notably volatile.

The prolonged war of words between the pair culminating in an explosive confrontation last February. Marshall and Shields went head-to-head in Cardiff after the undefeated American saw off Ema Kozin on points in her UK debut.

Shields, whose 12-0 pro-record mirrors that of Marshall, is infamous for the GWOAT necklace she wears around her neck, implying she's the 'greatest woman [boxer] of all time'. But the 'Silent Assassin' wasn't impressed when her bitter rival offered to throw that in the mix on Saturday.

"I bet you this [GWOAT] chain that you don't win the fight." said Shields, whilst glaring at Marshall. The response was savage though, as Marshall quipped: "Oh, no thank you. I'll just have the belts. I'd be taking that right back. How embarrassing is that?"

The exchange was posted on Twitter by talkSPORT boxing editor Michael Benson, and boxing fans seemed to agree with Marshall that she's been subjected to an embarrassing offer: "Genuinely really embarrassing for Shields, half feel for her," said @DanAuton2590.

However, as it stands, the bout is in doubt following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Friday's weigh-in will go ahead behind closed doors, with a fight announcement expected later in the afternoon.

Promoters Boxxer have released a statement which read: "An announcement regarding the status of Saturday's event will be made following consultation with relevant government and sports sector bodies, and will be made at the earliest possible opportunity."
