Ricky Hatton has lashed out at former foe Floyd Mayweather following his underwhelming exhibition bout against YouTuber Logan Paul – saying it was bad for the sport of boxing.
Mayweather, 44, had planned to take part in a string of lucrative fights this year without putting his perfect professional record on the line, but has already gone back on those plans.
Hatton pointed to the days in which fighters only wanted to face the best fighters on social media, with Mayweather and Paul failing to put on a blockbuster show in Miami.
Logan's younger brother Jake has impressed since turning professional, and will take on former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in August later this summer.
Hatton wrote: "WTF was all this about? What happened to the days where fighters would put there lives on the line to try be the best and at least fight the best. (sic)
"Now we have fighters calling out youtubers as that’s where the most money is these days due to the social media world we live in???
"I can live with an exhibition like mike (Tyson) and Roy (Jones) did between two legends of our sport but the greatest fighter of all time who has only recently retired against somebody who’s only there cus of how many followers he has and not because of who he’s previously beat???
"Money is important that’s why we went from the amateurs and turned pro. But these days money seems more important than the legacy. Floyd and Logan, hey Everyman to there own.
"Good luck to both. My personal opinion that was s*** for boxing. #getupthereboy."
Will Floyd Mayweather ever return to the ring? Let us know in the comments
Hatton told Metro last week: "I think Floyd Mayweather is damaging his legacy, his peers will be looking at him. Truth be known, though, Floyd doesn’t give a s***.
"He doesn’t care. He’s called himself 'Money' Mayweather for God sake, that tells you all you need to know! It is all about money with him. Me personally, I thought it was about the fans, the fans pay your wages.
"The fans deserved to be entertained. Floyd isn’t bothered as long as he gets money. It shows total disrespect to his peers and the other great champions of old.
"It seems like he is rubbing it in everyone’s face. In the face of people who work 12 hours a day, seven days a week who can’t even afford a holiday."

Floyd said of his plans for the future: "A guy that's retired, training a few days a week, for me to be retired, be a grandfather and fight a guy in his 20's. When the money comes, we will see who the winner is."
He added: "Will I make a comeback? Absolutely not. I have retired from the sport of boxing. I probably won't do an exhibition again either.
"If he would have fought more, it wouldn't have lasted eight rounds. I am just blessed to build a legacy and build a fortune from it. I have made some smart investments and everything is paid for.
"We did what we had to do tonight."
