Jake Paul will have the final sparring session of his camp for Anderson Silva just four days before the fight. Most boxers choose to taper off their sparring one week before fight night, but The Problem Child’s trainer BJ Flores has revealed that Paul will continue to spar up until Tuesday.
According to Flores, Paul has sparred with at least 50 different partners including former world champions Jean Pascal, Chad Dawson, and Steve Cunningham. This unprecedented access to top-quality sparring has undoubtedly contributed to the steep rise of the YouTube superstar and Paul’s team intends to utilize it as much as possible ahead of his sixth professional outing.
“We travel to Phoenix on Sunday, we’ll shake out on Monday,” Flores said. “We’ll spar one final time on Tuesday, he likes to spar the week of the fight. After that, we have an open workout Wednesday, a final press conference on Thursday, and a weigh-in on Friday. He’ll be ready to go.
“We sparred twice the week before fight week, he’s in such good shape right now. We’re not doing as many rounds but we’re keeping him sharp. Keeping him firing on all the right levels. The main thing right now is just making weight, he’s already close. We’ve been doing distance runs for 12 weeks. He’s prepared to go the eight rounds no problem but we’re also very realistic that this fight might not go the distance.”
Paul squares off against Silva on October 29 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona in his toughest test to date on paper. Silva is a former UFC middleweight champion and future promotional Hall of Famer.
Despite being past his best at 47 years old, the Brazilian is still capable of producing moments of brilliance as seen in his upset victory over former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr last year.

Paul, 25, made the transition to boxing in 2018 when stopped KSI’s younger brother Deji Olatunji in the fifth round of a white-collar bout at Manchester Arena. Spurred on by the victory, Paul turned over as a professional two years later and has since racked up a 5-0 record in the paid ranks with wins over AnEsonGib, Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley twice.
