Jake Paul has detailed his diet and training routine ahead of his October 29 clash with Anderson Silva at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The Problem Child eats very few carbohydrates and tends to skip lunch as he cuts down to the 187lb catchweight limit.

“Breakfast is just an omelette with just one piece of toast,” said Paul in a recent Most Valuable Promotions press release. “Sometimes I’ll skip lunch. I’m not really a big lunch person. It makes me tired and that makes me drop in weight.

“I’ll usually have a snack and some fruit, and the snack is a high in fibre protein bar. Dinner is chicken or steak with quinoa, or quinoa with fish. Not a lot of carbs. So, it’s been a really tough diet coming down to 187 but we’re wanting to do it the right way.

“Where I can wake up the morning of the weigh-in and have pasta if I want to. I could get to 175 next week if I wanted to do an MMA style weight-cut. But we cut the weight ahead of time, so I never have to sit in the sauna and steam room and I’ll actually be the same weight.”

Paul (5-0) will finally make his sixth professional appearance next week after a frustrating ten months out of the ring. The YouTube star has had three pull-outs since his last outing on December 18 – two from fierce rival Tommy Fury and one from replacement opponent Hasim Rahman Jr.

His next opponent, former UFC middleweight champion, Silva (3-1) is his toughest test to date on paper. At 46 years old the Brazilian is way past his prime but has shown a new lease of life since making the switch to boxing full-time.

Last year he beat ex-WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and followed that up with a brutal first-round knockout victory over fellow MMA legend Tito Ortiz. Paul is aware of the task at hand and has been putting in the work at the gym in preparation for the biggest fight of his career so far.

Speaking about his training routine, he continued: “Lots of sleep. I usually wake up around 1 p.m. We train a lot at night. We spar at night. We try to mimic fight night. Waking up and doing some kind of workout at night if I’m not sparring at night.

“That could be mitts, shadow boxing and then after that we do abs and we’ll go for a jog or weight training. Then it’s recovery and I have a stretch therapist. Then I go into a red-light bed. Then I come home, drink protein and then I go into the ice bath, then hot tub and back to ice bath. That usually recharges me right away.”
