Patrice Evra is the latest celebrity to turn to boxing – and will headline the undercard of the World's Scariest Man vs Iranian Hulk fight in the coming months.

Evra, 40, is believed to be a handy boxer and will be a tough fight for his currently unknown opponent, who will also be a famous figure.

The Frenchman, who played 379 times for Manchester United, retired from football in 2019 but has been keeping himself in prime condition.

Evra will be the biggest name on the undercard to Martyn Ford's heavyweight blockbuster fight against Sajad Gharibi, who is known as the Iranian Hulk.

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara has also agreed to fight on the undercard and will take on Katie Price's ex-boyfriend Kris Boyson.

Love Island star Jack Fincham will make his boxing debut on the star-studded undercard, while Scottish comedian and actor James English will also step into the ring.

Boxing ring girl Carla Jade will fight reality TV star AJ Bunker, while rugby stars Eliah Niko and Keegan Hirst have also agreed to fight each other on a spectacular

The event, which is being ran by Boxstar, takes place at the O2 Arena in London on April 2 and tickets are now available.

The main event is one of the most highly-anticipated bouts of recent time. Ford, known as the World's Scariest Man because of his huge size, takes on the Iranian Hulk after the pair exchanged jibes on social media.

Ford stands at 6 feet 8 inches tall and weighs over 320 pounds – but is still nearly 100 pounds lighter than his long-term rival.

But Ford fancies his chances. Speaking to the Daily Star this week, he said: "The occasion I think will overwhelm him.

"If I was to make a prediction he’s going to come out charging, hands up high, try and force me into a corner and just start swinging, which is pretty simple, a game plan against that isn’t rocket science.

"I'm not looking at this guy as coming here and having a plan set that he’s able to stick to. And even if he does I genuinely don’t think he’s working as hard as I am. I don’t think he'll have the mobility, the power, the movement.

"It really is an absolute no contest and purely a fight just to shut him up to be honest."

However, Ford isn't heading to London to simply notch a victory. A former cricketer at academy level with Warwickshire, he says his background in elite sport motivates him to put in a display that viewers both inside and outside of the arena can laud.

"If I was going to try to overpower him it would come across as a very scrappy, ugly, almost predictable fight," he said.

"For me, from being a sportsperson and being someone whose quite determined and focused, and OCD about things, I want to put a show on where people can appreciate that I’ve worked for this.

"I can prove that I know what I’m doing. Show them that I can use the jab, move around, and get the footwork going."
