Mike Tyson ‘walks away’ from Jake Paul fight with deal not what he expected
Mike Tyson has reportedly walked away from taking on Jake Paul in a boxing clash.
The former world heavyweight champion, 55, was believed to be in talks with YouTuber-turned boxer Paul 25, over a potential big-money exhibition fight expected to take place in Las Vegas.
Tyson, who last fought in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020, played down the rumours last month by denying talks had even taken place between the two parties.
But a deal was reportedly close to being agreed until Tyson pulled out after realising he was not being paid enough money, according to The Sun.
A source close to ‘Iron Mike’ told The Sun: "Mike did not want to resume full-scale training to a level that the world would expect, unless he thought the money was right.
"But what seemed like a good idea at the turn of the year is now no longer a top priority."
The pair’s representatives had secretly been working on a pay-per-view fight for later this year with a rumoured windfall of £36million.
However, a business associate of Tyson confirmed that the heavyweight turned his back on the deal due to the numbers not adding up.

He said: "The last few weeks have seen a change for Mike. He was on board for an exhibition bout with Jake in Vegas, but word is that the deal is not quite what he expected.
"It is not about him not being able to physically dominate Jake, but rather his life is not conducive to training to the level that would be required.
"Mike has so much else going on too in his business life, especially with the expanding marijuana empire. And at this moment in time the maths don't add up."
