It seems heavyweight legend Mike Tyson has some stern competition when it comes to training Anthony Joshua, as Manny Pacquiao’s ex-coach Freddie Roach has now put forward his interest.
This comes after Tyson revealed that he would be honoured to work alongside the British heavyweight star, as he bids to win back the heavyweight titles he lost to Oleksandr Usyk in September.
When asked about working with Joshua, Tyson told ES News: “That’d be an honour. Not to fight, but to help each other – that’d be awesome.
“He has so much potential, he should not be depressed. Him and (Deontay) Wilder should not be depressed and give up on the world.”
Joshua was recently pictured in a number of gyms around the United States, as it was rumoured he was on the lookout for a new coach to replace long-term trainer Rob McCracken following defeat to Usyk.

And whilst Roach’s California gym was not one of his stop offs, Pacquiao’s ex-trainer has told Joshua his door is always open.
In a message on iFL TV, Roach told the Brit: “You know where my gym is.
“I do run into him once in a while, he’s a character, and I’ve told him all he needs to do is come home.”
Joshua’s supposed hunt for a new team came as no surprise to many, as McCracken – and the rest of the Englishman’s corner – were heavily scrutinised following the loss to Usyk in London.

The heavyweight went into September’s bout at Tottenham as strong favourite, however a boxing clinic from the Ukrainian saw him prevail on points in front of 65,000 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
McCraken has been a key and long-standing member within Joshua’s setup, and despite the rumours, the Englishman told iFL TV that the former middleweight fighter will still be his main trainer.
Joshua said: “As a man, I have to do what’s right for me. I speak to Rob about it [touring new gyms] and Rob, as a man, agrees that if it’s good for me, he’ll say ‘champ, you do what you’ve got to do’.
“Rob’s not a controlling type of person, he’s very laid back and he’s happy to see the progression of what’s needed.”
Following Joshua’s damning defeat in London, Frank Warren – promoter of fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury – revealed that he felt he needed to ‘get rid of all the trainers around him’ if he is to succeed against Usyk.
Warren previously told SecondsOut: “Should he fight him [Usyk] again? If he does what he did last time, I don’t see him beating him. Even then, I think Usyk will get more out of that win than Joshua.
“I just don’t see what Joshua can do any different to win that fight other than get rid of all the trainers around him and try to change what he’s doing. Will he do that?”
