PSG star Kylian Mbappe insists his comments urging team-mates to ‘eat and sleep well’ after their loss to Bayern Munich were not aimed at Neymar – after the Brazilian came under fire for his outing at a poker night and trip to McDonalds.
Neymar has been condemned by fans after being pictured at the fast food chain following his reported attendance at the European Poker Tour in Paris last week, just a day after their disappointing 1-0 Champions League defeat.
Mbappe had issued a rallying cry after the game, telling his team-mates that they could overturn the deficit if they worked hard and prepared well.
‘Everyone needs to be healthy, sleep well, eat well,’ the forward said.
‘We can do something there. If we are more offensive, they are uncomfortable. Let’s quickly move on and go again.’

But after Neymar’s controversy, Mbappe was forced to reiterate that he was not singling out his fellow forward, saying it ‘wasn’t a dig’ and that they were aimed at giving everyone a lift.
Mbappe spoke to Amazon Prime Video Sport after their 4-3 win over Lille, which saw him score a brace, while Neymar also got on the scoresheet before being stretchered off with an anke injury.
‘[They were] for everyone. For everyone!’ he said. ‘I’ve seen people talking about Ney and what happened afterwards… it was not a dig or anything.
‘I think in the context we are in now, we need anything but digs. It’s really advice for everyone because, as I said, when we have everyone, other teams have problems.’
Mbappe said he was aiming to give a lift to the entire squad ahead of the return leg at Bayern
A report from French outlet Sport 10 claimed that Neymar paid €10,000 (£8,895) to enter the poker game before heading out to a McDonalds in Paris later on.
Neymar was pictured sitting inside the fast food restaurant with his friends wearing a green jumper and black trousers.
His friend captioned the picture: ‘Levando ele pra fazer coisas normais’ – which translates to ‘taking him to do normal things’.
Thierry Henry took a swipe at the group for posting the picture on social media while on punditry duty for PSG’s win over Lille, saying: ‘With friends like that, you don’t need enemies.’
Neymar’s difficult moment took a new twist after the game having been stretchered off with a sprained ankle – and he’ll now be a doubt for the return leg at Bayern.
