Logan Paul’s sparring partner warns Floyd Mayweather how Youtuber will target KO
Less than a fortnight remains until boxing legend Floyd Mayweather returns to the ring against Logan Paul on June 6, a bout that seems unfairly weighted in more ways than one.
While YouTube personality Paul is expected to bring a 30-pound weight advantage into the fight, he’ll be going up against arguably the greatest boxer of all time in 50-0 Mayweather.
Paul, 26, lost his only professional bout to date when he suffered a split-decision defeat to fellow YouTuber KSI in November 2019.
The social media star nonetheless has the power and weight advantage to knock out one of the best the sport has produced, however, according to Paul’s sparring partner, Lucas Ruiz.
Paul recently moved to Puerto Rico for his training camp in the build-up to facing Mayweather, and Ruiz told The Sun there’s potential for a major surprise come June 6: “Overall, I've got to say; Logan Paul could knock out Floyd Mayweather, if he learns how to time his punches and finds him rhythm, his timing, his range.
"He's long and he knows how to use his range a little bit. I told Logan the right hand is the shot, because Mayweather is shorter than Logan.
"Logan is taller and he can throw a bomb that can land. I think this is the first time Mayweather is fighting somebody as big as Logan Paul, to be honest.
"That man, Logan, he's big, I'm not going to lie. I'm 5'9, I believe Mayweather is 5'8, and you can definitely tell the size difference.
"Logan is muscular too, he's in shape, I'm telling you. I hope Floyd don't go to sleep on him.”
Mayweather, 44, collected his 50th unanswered professional win when he finished UFC superstar Conor McGregor in the 10th round of their 2017 clash.
‘Money’ then sealed a first-round exhibition win over Japanese prospect Tenshin Nasukawa in December the following year.
Boxing fans might suggest an exhibition date opposite Paul is beneath one as decorated as Mayweather, but the nature of their fight hasn’t left the icon lacking in motivation.
Mayweather—who has held five world titles in as many weight divisions—was “p****d off” after Paul’s younger brother, Jake, stole his hat at a recent press conference.
Ruiz may have trained with the elder Paul sibling at the Team La Perla gym, but his money was still on Mayweather to get the best of his upcoming opponent: ”I’m not going to lie, if Floyd stays in shape like he always has in his career, he's too smart for him.
"He's the GOAT. He's a mastermind, having the discipline, and the heart and determination, Floyd's resume don't lie.
"I'm not going to lie, Floyd being the GOAT, I know he's going to take over mentally first and if physically he has the power to land the correct shot, I have no doubt.
"But, I do think Logan has the chance to knock Mayweather out, if he throws some crazy, well-time right hand.

"But overall, I think Mayweather's going to box him mentally and even if he's got to go to the later rounds to knock him out.
"Real fighting is different to just training a couple of years. That isn't disrespect to Logan or nothing like that."
As well as being permitted a 30-pound weight cushion for their clash, Paul also carries a six-inch height advantage over Mayweather.
‘The Maverick’ will have six rounds to try and find that finishing blow against a true boxing great, a result that would go down as one of the biggest upsets in the sport’s history should it materialise.
