Logan Paul’s punch stats from exhibition fight with Floyd Mayweather
Logan Paul landed a total of 28 punches on Floyd Mayweather during their eight-round exhibition match in Miami last night.
The winless YouTube star clung on to hear the final bell and avoid a knockout but struggled to connect with his illustrious rival – although he did out-land Mayweather in the first and seventh sessions.
Paul landed 28 of the 217 punches he threw over the 24 minutes, just 13 per cent compared to Mayweather's 40 per cent – landing 43 of his 107 punches thrown.
The YouTuber was 0-1 going into this bout, which Mayweather was keen to stress it was not a real fight following his illustrious professional career.
Paul had promised to shock the world with a KO of his own and managed to throw 144 power punches, landing 15 per cent of them, as well as 10 per cent of his jabs of which seven of 73 landed.
Fans were unimpressed with the bout, which ended without an official result after Paul implemented a clinch-heavy defensive plan to stifle Mayweather's explosive speed and power.
Mayweather landed 40 per cent of his total punches after throwing 107 punches and landing 43, which included 7 of his 14 jabs hitting the target and 36 of his 93 power punches.
Both men are expected to make millions from the event, which attracted a large enough amount of prospective pay-per-view buyers to crash the Showtime servers in the United States.
"I had fun. You've got to realise I'm not 21 anymore," Mayweather said after the final bell. "He's better than I thought he was.
"He's a tough, rough competitor and I was surprised by him. He knew how to use his weight and tie me up."
Paul was even able to showboat in the dying seconds as the bell went to signal a moral victory.
"I don't want anyone to tell me anything is impossible ever again," said Paul afterwards. "Everyone has it in them
"Floyd Mayweather, it was an honour. "You never know with this guy, I'm going to go home thinking, 'Did Floyd let me survive?.'
"This is the coolest thing ever."
On the undercard, former NFL star Chad Johnson was knocked down in the fourth and final round of his exhibition bout with Brian Maxwell, which also went the distance and saw no winner declared.
And in the most competitive bout of the evening, Luis Arias upset the odds to defeat former unified super-welterweight world champion Jarrett Hurd.
Hurd was a heavy favourite heading into the bout, with Arias coming off the back of a loss to Luke Keeler in the last of a three-fight winless run as well as almost two years of inactivity.
But the American was able to dominate for long periods of the fight, and despite a contentious knockdown call in the penultimate round, he picked up the split decision win.
Badou Jack handily defeated Venezuelan unknown Dervin Colina by way of TKO after landing three knockdowns in the fourth round.
He had been expected to rematch light-heavyweight world champion Jean Pascal in what would have been the most interesting boxing match of the night, but Pascal failed a drug test.
