KSI offers former trainer £10,000 knockout bonus on Khan v Brook undercard

Internet star KSI has offered his former boxing coach Viddal Riley a bumper £10,000 reward if he can win his UK professional debut with a knockout.

The 24-year-old will make his hotly-anticipated return to the ring on the undercard of Amir Khan's clash with Kell Brook at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday evening.

He shot to fame as KSI's trainer for his fight against fellow YouTuber Logan Paul and has gone on to carve out a good reputation as a boxer in his own right.

Riley, who is undefeated in four fights as a professional, hasn't stepped foot in the ring for almost two years due to a combination of injuries and the Covid pandemic.

But after signing a deal with Boxxer last November, Riley's return against Willbeforce Shihepo could be worth his while and then some if he can floor his opponent.

That's because KSI has offered Riley a £10,000 bonus if he knocks out Shihepo – a distinct possibility given his the Namibian has lost his last four fights.

"Knock him out and I give you 10k," KSI wrote to his former trainer Riley on Instagram.

Riley helped prepare KSI for his two fights against Logan Paul, with both match-ups selling over one million buys on pay-per-view.

And Riley, who has also been linked with a massive fight against Tommy Fury, revealed he was supposed to return to the ring last June on the undercard of the American's clash with Floyd Mayweather.

"I made the right decisions," he told the Daily Mirror. "Some of the fights that didn't come through were no fault of mine.

"It was just the world changing, how to get around restrictions, I was supposed to be on the Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul card and I was ready to go, my team wanted me to go.

"But it wasn't down to me, the things that needed to be in place – I had done before during the pandemic but during a camp it ruins your flow."

KSI won't be in the crowd to support his pal in Manchester on Saturday due to a music tour, but the pair have kept in touch in the build-up to the contest.

Speaking on a video call on Friday after he had weighed in for his bout, Riley said: "It's your fault. Everyone's telling me I'm this social media guy, that's what you've done."

KSI replied: "This is your part to prove everyone wrong. Obviously you've got a lot of pressure, because everyone's like: 'let's see what Vidal's got.'

"But then, I know what you are, I know how sick you are."

Riley is keen to follow the traditional boxing route, but at the same time, isn't ruling out a potential mega-money clash with KSI's old rival Paul in the future.

He said: "People like Jake Paul being like: 'I'll fight Viddal', you and I know that's rubbish because you're just on a different level, like world champion level.

"So you've just got to prove it now, you've just got to show everyone."
