Joshua's disgraced rival Miller emerges as shock replacement for Whyte

Anthony Joshua’s disgraced rival Jarrell Miller emerges as shock replacement for Dillian Whyte on August 12, four years after their fight was cancelled due to the American testing positive for multiple banned substances

  • Negotiations for Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte have broken down for August
  • Jarrell Miller’s promoter Dmitriy Salita has offered his client as a replacement
  • Eddie Hearn says Miller is ‘unlikely’ to be considered for Joshua’s next fight

Jarrell Miller’s promoter Dmitriy Salita is reportedly offering his client as a replacement opponent for Anthony Joshua after discussions broke down with Dillian Whyte.

Joshua was set to rematch Whyte on August 12, however, Eddie Hearn claims the Body Snatcher priced himself out of the contest.

Negotiations weren’t able to progress and now Joshua is expected to face a new opponent on the same date.

According to Sky Sports, Salita is keen for Joshua and Miller to re-book their grudge match after their 2019 contest was cancelled due to the American testing positive for multiple banned substances.

But Hearn has made it clear that he won’t be considering Miller as a potential opponent.

Agit Kabayel is among Joshua’s possible next opponents while Miller has been ruled out

Meanwhile, European heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel is in consideration to box the Brit next.

‘I don’t think the Jarrell Miller fight’s gonna happen, no,’ Hearn told Boxing Social. ‘Who knows what’s going to happen in future, we know my feelings on that.

‘Kabayel is a European champion, he’s top fifteen. He’s on a list of four, five fighters that it could be.

‘But we need to close it out this weekend if he’s going to fight on August 12.’

After his fight in August, Saudi Arabia’s Skills Challenge Promotions have confirmed that they are looking to stage Joshua vs Deontay Wilder in the Kingdom at the back end of the year.

No official offer has been made as of yet although Skills Challenge’s head of boxing Amer Abdallah assures all parties involved that they will receive a ‘premium price’ for their services.
