Joshua hits out at Fury over undisputed clash but promises it will happen
Anthony Joshua has blamed Tyson Fury and his team for letting the boxing world down by losing their undisputed clash.
But he insists the British pair will still meet in the ring later this year and it will be even bigger than ever.
The WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion is still fuming with the WBC title holder for their fight falling apart.
Joshua and Fury were in lengthy negotiations for months about a Saudi Arabia showdown and were on the verge of announcing an August 14 date.
But the plug was pulled after Deontay Wilder won an arbitration case in the US to force a third fight with Fury this summer.
Watford Warrior Joshua will now face WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk on either September 18 or 25 at Wembley or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He said: “Unfortunately his team let the whole boxing world down.”
Joshua insists the Fury fight can still happen no matter what the outcomes of their next two fights.
"I will still be here, still ready to put on a show,” he told Sky Sports.
“End of the year.
“Let me get past Usyk first. But with or without Usyk in my life, I will fight Fury.
“Usyk isn't the be-all and end-all.
"Usyk doesn't determine the Fury fight.”
The August date was going to see Fury and Joshua split a site fee of over £100m.
But if they both avoid defeat then it could be worth even more if the Saudis are still willing to dip into their pockets for a December clash.
Joshua first must keep the WBO belt by beating Usyk with talks coming to a close and an announcement for that fight expected in the next 10 days.
“The Fury fight has to happen,” added Joshua.
“It's a big fight, bigger than boxing, bigger than the belts.
“It will happen. After the Usyk fight, after I defend my belts.
“The fight will be bigger, better than what it would have been.”
