Jake Paul has responded to UFC star Paddy Pimblett’s claim that his fight against Anderson Silva was rigged. Paul, who is undefeated as a professional boxer, defeated Silva on a points decision in his last bout.
Pimblett caused a stir earlier this week by claiming Paul’s fights are “fixed” in an extraordinary accusation. The UFC star, who is fighting on UFC282 later this month, explained that he believes Paul’s knockout win over Tyron Woodley was legitimate, but that the punch he knocked Silva down with didn’t land.
Paul knocked Silva down with a straight right hand on his way to defeating the former UFC world champion, and is expected to face a professional boxer in his next outing. However, he’s now issued a challenge to Pimblett.
Speaking in a video posted to his social media pages, Paul hit back at Pimblett’s accusation, insisting it was “pathetic and stupid” to suggest his win over Silva wasn’t completely legitimate.
He also vowed to fly the Liverpudlian to Puerto Rico on a private jet to spar him, and promised to pay him $1million if the MMA star got the better of him. He said: “Oh poor Paddy Pimblett, man. I was really wanting to like you, I really was. You have a cute little thing going for you.
“But then you come out and say my fight against Anderson Silva was rigged. I’m sick and tired of this narrative, it’s pathetic, stupid, you’re disrespecting the GOAT of your own sport. Saying Anderson Silva is a criminal, saying he’s a fraud. You’re saying Viacom, one of the biggest media companies in the world, is doing criminal stuff. That’s what you’re saying, it’s stupid and pathetic.”
Paul recently founded the United Fighters Association, which is aiming to improve fighter pay within the UFC and give fighters better access to healthcare. And the former YouTuber wants Pimblett to sign up, if the Liverpudlian is unable to beat him.
He continued: “But I have a proposition for you. Since you wouldn’t rig a fight, let’s spar. Fly to Puerto Rico. I’ll get you a private jet. We can do five three minute rounds, boxing. If you win, I’ll give you $1million, which is what you deserve to get paid, Paddy. You know it. The UFC isn’t paying you that. You deserve to get paid more. But if I win, you have to join the United Fighters Association and help me sign up all the fighters in the UK. Let’s spar. Since you wouldn’t rig a fight, I’ll fly you out, a million for you, put your money where your mouth is. Let’s go.”
