Jake Paul has revealed that he has a poster of boxing promoter Eddie Hearn in his gym and says he looks at it ‘every day’.
Hearn promoted Paul’s opening professional bout in the ring and the the YouTuber-turned-boxer currently possesses an undefeated record with five victories.
Paul was set to square off against Tommy Fury in Florida last December but the fight was called off after Fury broke a rib in training.
The 25-year-old then fought former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in a rematch in Florida and Paul emerged victorious.
And speaking on the talkSPORT breakfast show, Paul insisted that he was ready to fight Fury and even revealed that he has a poster of Hearn asking ‘when are you going to fight a real boxer?’ in his gym.
“I tried to fight a real boxer and he faked the injury so that’s Tommy Fury, comes from a legendary bloodline,” said Paul.
“It would have been worse for Tommy Fury, he can’t take a punch like Tyron so he’s lucky that fight didn’t happen.
“I was ready to fight the pro boxer, you know I had a poster up in my gym of Eddie [Hearn] actually that says ‘when are you going to fight a real boxer?’ and I look at it every day while I’m training because he was one of the first people to say it.
“But I tried and it’s been two years since my professional debut and I’ve just continued to increase my level of opposition and continued to prove people wrong.
“I have a long way to go and I know I can become a world champion because I spar against world champions and I have great coaches and an amazing team around me.
“I have a giant chip on my shoulder. I have giant chip on both shoulders, so I want to try everyone wrong and I’m going to just for fun.”
