Inside the £143m super-yacht housing Whyte and Povetkin before rematch

Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin are staying in this stunning £143million super-yacht ahead of their highly-billed heavyweight rematch this weekend.

Whyte will be aiming to avenge his defeat against Povetkin in August of last year, which saw him knocked out in brutal fashion by the Russian at Matchroom’s Fight Camp.

The Brixton man will hope to right that wrong and reenforce his position as WBC mandatory challenger, edging him closer to a potential world-title shot.

It is a must-win fight for him on Saturday night, as another defeat will all but end his hopes of reaching the top of the division.

Ahead of his date of destiny with the Russian in Gibraltar, Whyte will be able to relax in the world’s first deluxe super-yacht hotel – the Sunborn Hotel.

The hotel, which is one of the biggest yachts on the planet, stretches an incredible 465 feet and is seven stories high.

It boasts a total of 189 rooms, from twin-rooms to a penthouse suite, and some are said to cost up to £2,000 per night.

There are several places to eat on board, including the Barbary Restaurant, which serves a mix of local and exotic cuisine while boasting beautiful views of the marina and Gibraltar Rock.

  • The yacht also has its own casino, spa and fitness suite to help Whyte and Povetkin stay in tip-top condition ahead of their pivotal rematch.

It is held firmly in place at the Ocean Village Marina by six hydraulic arms which weigh up to eight tonnes apiece.

Whyte is confident of gaining revenge in his bout with Povetkin this weekend, recently telling The Sun: “I am looking forward to taking the fight to him but of course I am going to use tools like my jab.

“I am not just going to steam out swinging against a former world champion and Olympic champion, he is not a journeyman I can just plough over, I will need to set him up.

“But I will definitely be more aggressive than I was last time.”
