Eddie Hearn has declared that he wants to sit down with Tyson Fury’s representatives to make the Anthony Joshua fight provided the Brit beats Jermaine Franklin on April 1. Hearn had originally teased a fight with Fury for the back end of the year but is now willing to bring those plans forward.
Earlier this year, Hearn proposed that Joshua would box Dillian Whyte in the summer followed by a blockbuster showdown with either Fury or Deontay Wilder around December time. But with Usyk vs Fury recently collapsing, Hearn says he will be ‘kicking and screaming’ for the long-awaited all-British showdown to be made next.
“If this fight doesn’t get made (Usyk-Fury), I want to sit down with George Warren and God-willing AJ gets through Jermaine Franklin on April 1, I want to go straight into that fight. AJ against Tyson Fury, why not?” he told DAZN.
“It’s financially a much bigger fight for Tyson Fury than Oleksandr Usyk. It’s the biggest fight in world boxing by a mile. but if the Usyk fight does fall through then I think we should be kicking and screaming for the AJ fight. And sometimes things happen that enable fights that you never thought could happen to happen and maybe this is one of those moments.”
Joshua and Fury have had two major attempts to thrash out a deal fall by the wayside in recent years. Back in March 2021, a two-fight deal was signed by both parties starting with a Saudi showdown in August. However, just days after announcing they had put pen to paper a judge in the US court ruled that Deontay Wilder was due a third fight with Fury.
Joshua was then ordered to face WBO mandatory Usyk with the Fury agreement now null and void; the rest is history. But two years later following back-to-back losses to the Ukrainian, the possibility of Fury vs Joshua was floated around again yet as the pair took part in rushed negotiations for a fight in December of last year.

However, both sides were unable to reach an agreement in the short time frame provided as fingers were pointed in both directions. Fury has since come out and affirmed that he will never entertain a bout with Joshua again but Hearn has continued to push for the fight since their most recent collapse.
