Hearn labels Mayweather and Paul's exhibition 'the biggest joke'
Eddie Hearn labels the widely panned exhibition between Floyd Mayweather and rookie Logan Paul as ‘the biggest joke I have ever seen’… and also admits feeling ‘uncomfortable’ over promoting YouTube cards in the past

Eddie Hearn has labelled the exhibition bout between Floyd Mayweather and rookie boxer Logan Paul as the ‘biggest joke I have ever seen’ – and also admitted he was ‘uncomfortable’ promoting YouTube cards.
All-time great Mayweather and Paul fought in a lucrative showdown in Miami, Florida last month, and no winner was declared after the popular online personality was able to go the distance in the three eight-minute rounds.
News of the fight was greeted with widespread scepticism and distaste from across the boxing world, and Hearn, who shares a similar opinion, has even gone as far as labelling the decision to screen the spectacle as a ‘disgrace’.

By doing so, Hearn took aim at Sky Sports, his former broadcaster before his multi-million switch with Matchroom Boxing to streaming service DAZN, and ripped into the giants for showing Mayweather and Paul’s showdown.
‘Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul was the biggest joke I have ever seen,’ Hearn told talkSPORT. ‘It was a disgrace that it was even broadcast to be honest.
‘Now if there’s a fight between someone who is taking boxing seriously and someone that can fight, I’m talking about Jake Paul against Tyron Woodley coming up, I’m not offended by it.’
Logan’s younger brother Jake is currently gearing up to face former UFC welterweight champion Woodley on August 29, and Hearn, despite his disgust for the divisive new trend, has praised him for his commitment.

‘Jake is in the gym, he’s doing the hard sparring, he’s beaten a couple of fighters, UFC fighters at least, different.’ he said.
Both Paul brothers have spearheaded the gradual increase of well-known faces from YouTube taking the step into boxing, although this has been heavily savaged by more traditional viewers of the sport.
Hearn was initially involved, too, having promoted his first YouTube headline card for the second fight between Logan and KSI in November 2019 – a decision he has looked to defend, but also now regrets.
‘I did Logan Paul against KSI, two guys who can’t really fight at that professional level, but it was a 50/50,’ Hearn added.

‘We sold out the Staples Centre, we did millions of buys worldwide on pay-per-view.
‘But I did feel uncomfortable, I have to be honest.’
Jake, meanwhile, has continued his relentless campaign of calling out Conor McGregor, as he continues his pursuit of a boxing match between them.
‘I think it will happen. Look, I mean, I’m the money fight for Conor McGregor right now,’ Paul told The Herd.
Hearn was initially involved on the YouTube scene for Paul’s fight with KSI in November 2019
‘There is no other fighter right now who is on a bigger level than me that is calling out Conor McGregor and wants to fight Conor.
‘Our team is in touch with his team and there’s talks of it actually happening.
‘And people at first thought I was just joking when I said I wanted to fight him.
‘But now it’s as real as it gets, it’s more real than ever and by the way, if we do fight, I’m going to knock him out.’
