Gervonta Davis posts selfie with bundles of cash – days after prison release

After his release from jail last week, boxer Gervonta Davis has snapped himself holding stacks of cash over on his Instagram story.

In a Floyd Mayweather-esque move, Davis lifted his phone aloft whilst clinging onto the hordes of bills looking relatively happy to have been released from prison.

Earlier this year, the 28-year-old was jailed after breaching the terms of his sentence following a hit-and-run back in November 2020 which left four people injured.

Running a red light in his Lamborghini Urus SUV, Davis hit another vehicle which the four people were travelling in, one of which was pregnant at the time.

The hit-and-run, which Davis plead guilty to, resulted in him being given four traffic offences, one of which was leaving the scene of an accident which involved bodily injury.

Jyair Smith, the pregnant woman involved in the crash, said she begged Davis for help. She said: "I begged Mr Gervonta Davis, I looked him in his eyes. I said, 'I have to get home to my daughter, I'm pregnant.' He never once came over to help me."

The boxer was given a 90-day home detention sentence, alongside three years' probation and 200 hours of community service. However, after violating the terms of his home arrest sentence, Davis landed himself in prison.

It has been reported that Davis moved into a luxury hotel and then a new home without permission, which resulted in him having to spend 44 days in a Baltimore prison.

It's safe to say 2023 has been an eventful year for Davis. At the start of the year, he defeated Hector Garcia, before later beating Ryan Garcia in April to move his professional fighting record to 29-0.
