Fury’s team ‘not happy’ with Joshua fight announcement as things turn bitter
Frank Warren has hit out at rival promoter Eddie Hearn for letting slip that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have signed the contracts for their double heavyweight showdown in 2021.
Hearn, who has promoted Joshua for the entirety of his professional career, confirmed on Monday that a deal has been struck for the pair to finally lock horns in two eagerly-awaited bouts later this year.
All that’s left to be sorted before their proposed first meeting this summer is the fight venue, with Saudi Arabia and Macau reportedly leading the race to stage it.
Nevertheless, Fury’s promoter Warren has been left furious with Hearn for announcing that the fighters have agreed their contracts.
He said on talkSPORT: “Everybody signed an agreement that there would be no announcements unless they were joint announcements and that came out the blue yesterday.
“We are all not happy but it is out there now – there is nothing we can do about that.
“But there is a long way to go yet in as much we have to sort out venues. We have a couple venues we are looking at and that is where we are.
“I believe it will happen when they get in the ring. We’ve still got a way to go.
“But everybody is on the same page to make this work. We are all collectively working to get a venue sorted now.”
It is believed Fury and Joshua now have four weeks to agree on a venue if they want the fight to take place this summer.
As well as Saudi Arabia and Macau, Las Vegas, Singapore and Dubai have also been touted as potential destinations.

Despite the fact it’s set to go ahead on foreign soil, though, Warren believes Fury and Joshua’s battle will be historic for British boxing.
“It is the biggest fight ever in British boxing, bar none,” he added.
“Two guys who hold all versions of the world title between them, both Brits, and it don’t get no better than that.
“It is massive. Nothing compares to it. I have been involved in some big fights over the years but they pale in comparison to how enormous this fight is.
“And in world boxing, it is the same. When you speak to anybody, all they talk about is when the fight is going to be on.
“Hopefully it is going to happen now and everyone’s wish is going to come true.”
