Francis Ngannou has revealed he is willing to wait for a rematch with Tyson Fury after he fights Oleksandr Usyk in February.
The former UFC star wowed fans with his performance in a split-decision loss to Fury in October.
But, with Usyk set to face Fury next – many fans feel angered that Ngannou will not be able to avenge his defeat sooner.
Asked about the prospect of his mid-2024 fight with Fury, Ngannou told TMZ: ‘I would be willing to wait [for Fury to fight Usyk].’
He also claimed he is angry with himself that he cut Fury in the fight, which is the reason why the heavyweight champion isn’t able to fight in less than two months.
Many fans felt Francis Ngannou was extremely unfortunate not to win against Tyson Fury
The Gypsy King is now expected to fight Ukranian Oleksandr Usyk next year in February
‘I know that they are going to fight, they had a contract already, so they are going to fight sometime in February instead of December 23, which is my fault,’ he said while smiling.
‘I shouldn’t have cut him. He would’ve fought December 23, and maybe we would’ve run it back early next year.’
Following Fury’s performance, Eddie Hearn called for the Usyk fight to be scrapped so that the ‘Gypsy King’ could take on Joshua instead.
When asked if Fury will fight Joshua in 2024, hall of fame boxing promoter Frank Warren told Mail Sport: ‘No.
‘He (Joshua) didn’t want to fight him last December. We made the offer. So you know where he is now. He’s at the back of that long queue,’ Warren continued.
‘They were not interested in fighting for a world title having fought twice against Usyk and been beaten twice. He didn’t want to fight for a world title, otherwise he would have taken that opportunity when it was offered to him.’
