Floyd Mayweather to take on Geordie Shore star after opponent withdraws
Multi-time world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather will take on Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers in London next month.
Six hours after Mayweather announced his first fight in the UK, his opponent Liam Harrison pulled out leaving the boxing legend looking for a worthy exhibition opponent to attract a big crowd to the The O2 on February 25. During his career Mayweather had an incredible unbeaten record of 50-0 which saw him win 15 world championship crowns but he never boxed in the UK.
Since retiring Mayweather continues to make millions through lucrative exhibition bouts and has fought the likes of Logan Paul and YouTuber Deji Olatunji.

Despite his long and distinguished career in the ring, Mayweather never fought outside of the United States. He has changed that since turning to the exhibition circuit, taking in stops in Japan, the UAE and now London.
“I was originally supposed to face a different opponent, but injuries happen and I’m glad that Aaron Chalmers could step up so that we could give the fans what they want,” Mayweather said in a statement. “The fans in the UK have always been great to me and supported me throughout my career, so an event like this has been a long time coming. I’m excited to add more history to The O2 arena in London.”

Chalmers is best known for his reality television appearances on Geordie Shore, joining in 2014 and appearing in eight series. Alongside his television work the 35-year-old Geordie started MMA fighting in 2017, winning his first three fights before being signed to the Bellator promotion. He announced his MMA retirement in February 2021 but has now taken up boxing.
“I’ve been training with Adam Booth in the boxing gym and I’m eager to make a name for myself in the boxing world,” Chalmers added. “I jumped on this opportunity immediately. It’s an honour to share the ring with one of the greatest fighters of all time and I’m definitely going to take advantage of it.”
Chalmers made his boxing debut in June when he beat journeyman Alexander Zeledon with the help of famed coach Adam Booth who has trained the likes of George Groves and Danny Williams. Despite never having fought in the UK, the Money has visited as part of promotional tours ahead of fights against Ricky Hatton and Connor McGregor.
He most recently appeared in the UK for a press conference with YouTube star Deji, who he stopped during his last exhibition, last October.
