Fans suspicious over Canelo’s abnormal amount of sweat before Golovkin fight

Fans are suspicious after seeing footage of Canelo Alvarez's abnormal amount of sweat before his Gennadiy Golovkin trilogy fight.

Alvarez and Golovkin are set to meet for the third time in their careers at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, with the Mexican's four super-middleweight world titles all on the line. Both fighters will need to weigh-in between 160lbs and 168lbs for the bout, with fans raising concerns with whether Alvarez will be able to make weight.

Posting on Instagram this week, Alvarez shared a video of himself emptying a massive amount of liquid from his trousers after wearing a sauna suit for an intense session during his weight cut.

Alvarez could be seen with a towel wrapped around him as he lifted his trousers up to let out the sweat, with fans quick to react to the footage on social media.

One tweeted: “Gonna assume this might be used as an excuse if he loses.” Another also added: “This is not a flex… Nelo usually in shape fight week. Why the f*** is he still in a sauna suit?”

A third also wrote: “Canelo is cutting a massive amount of weight right before the fight. Probably not even making weight. He’ll get pulled off the scale immediately and saved by the sanctioning bodies. And dudes are saying clenbuterol doesn’t help you. Smh.”

One more boxing fan went on to add: “I cannot believe he is still training this hard literally four days away from the fight.”

Alvarez is returning to super-middleweight after his unsuccessful move up to light heavyweight saw him lose via unanimous decision to Dmitrii Bivol back in April.

Saturday's fight will be the third meeting between Alvarez and Golovkin, with their first bout ending in a draw before Alvarez won the rematch via a majority decision.

Golovkin is moving up from middleweight for the fight but the new weight class is not bothering him. Speaking to Yahoo Sports, he explained: "Indeed, it's a new weight division for me, and there are certain nuances, and we are making appropriate adjustments.

"My focus is on heavy training and my experience. I think the difference would be in making this weight, so I feel very comfortable making 160.

"From time to time, I will have to probably wear this weight-burning suit a couple of times, while, for 168, there is a chance that I will not need it."
