Eubank Jr asked to sign fan’s microwave as he’s mobbed by fans in Newcastle
Chris Eubank Jr will no doubt have signed many autographs for his supporters throughout his boxing career, however a fan interaction in Newcastle may well be the first (and last) time he ever signs a microwave.
Eubank Jr is in the North East for his eagerly anticipated fight with Wanik Awdijan on Saturday night, and yesterday evening was mobbed by a number of adoring Geordie supporters.
Like many, the Eubank Jr following approached the boxing star for an autograph with one avid fan handing over a microwave to the 26-year-old for him to sign.
In a video circulating on social media a number of fans in Newcastle city centre are seen posing for pictures with the fighter, before one avid supporter approaches Eubank Jnr with a microwave, followed by another who asked for a signing on his hand.
The boxer took to Twitter himself to address the comical meet and greet, commending the man in question for bringing out his kitchen appliance for the autograph.
Eubank Jr tweeted: “Only in Newcastle will you find such dedication & resourcefulness.
“The balls this kid must have to walk around the town center on a Thursday night ALONE with only a microwave to watch his back, deserves a medal for bravery.”

The interaction came just hours after the 26-year-old addressed the world’s press at the pre-fight press conference ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Awdijan, and the pair shared a heated exchange during their media duties.
The Englishman kicked off the jibing by slamming his upcoming opponent for having ‘so much to say’ over social media ahead of the fight.
He said: “I'm disappointed in this man here because he had so much to say online. So much heat and energy came from his social media over the last few weeks.
“Now? I see a man who doesn't have the same fire, I was hoping to hear some nasty things today.”

However the German fighter was quick to hit back at Eubank Jr and accused him of previously avoiding a bout and replied: “Just wait… Why didn't you fight me the first time?
Eubank Jr responded: “Because you were overweight.”
The back and forth argument continued between the pair, especially after Eubank confirmed he had only needed four weeks to prepare for the fight in Newcastle.
The German hastily replied to Eubank’s claim: “Four weeks? I got told you had been preparing for months.I had this fight on week’s notice. You were pulling out for three kilos.”
