Eddie Hearn has claimed that Tyson Fury “doesn’t look ready” for his triology fight with Deontay Wilder, despite still backing the British fighter to win. The promoter is still reeling from Anthony Joshua’s loss to Aleksandr Usyk last Saturday, a bout which many thought AJ would win to pave the way for a long-awaited showdown between him and his British rival.
Those plans are now in jeopardy with Joshua, 31, now having to turn his focus to instigating his rematch clause with the Ukrainian fighter, now the new owner of the the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight belts.
Fury, meanwhile, will face Wilder, for the third time in Las Vegas next Saturday, October 9.
The bout comes three years after their controversial draw in 2018 before their 2020 rematch was convincingly won in seven rounds by the ‘Gypsy King’.
Fury, 33, intended to delay the third agreed fight until 2022 as he negotiated a clash with Joshua, but Wilder took legal action and the subsequent court ruling went in the American’s favour.

The trilogy bout was originally set for September but was delayed after the British fighter tested positive for Covid-19, and now Hearn has told Boxing Social he thinks Fury looks ill-prepared.
“Tyson Fury doesn’t look ready, in my opinion,” he said.
“I still think he’ll win comfortably, but it does throw in the likelihood of a mistake happening.
“If you make a mistake against Deontay Wilder, it could cost you the fight. He’s very dangerous.”

“I don’t see him losing a round, but it doesn’t really matter. One mistake, and it can be over. I genuinely hope he wins because I want the WBC to order the mandatory of Fury v (Dillian) Whyte.”
The last clash between Fury and the 34-year-old Wilder smashed records, as a packed MGM Grand Garden Arena yielded a ticket gate of more than $13million. However, the big difference this time around is Fury will not have the benefit of travelling support due to Covid-19.
And Hearn, 42, was eager to stick the boot in by saying there was “zero buzz” around the fight.
“Look at Fury-Wilder; they’re giving away tickets. They’re reducing prices, and that’s one of the biggest fights out there, really.
“It won’t do a five million dollar gate. Because mainly there are no Brits traveling. So in America, that fight is not a big fight.”
Hearn added: “There’s zero buzz. I’m not just saying that. There’s zero buzz for that fight because he (Fury) absolutely destroyed him (Wilder) in the second fight. And he beat him in the first fight as well.
