Dillian Whyte’s heavyweight war with Otto Wallin has been postponed just over a week out from the bout in London. Reports suggested the Body Snatcher has suffered a potential shoulder injury during training that means he is now unable to compete against the Swede – and those claims have since been officially confirmed.
It’s not the first time in recent history that Whyte has been faced with injury problems during camp.
He was forced to battle on past a hamstring problem in Gibraltar earlier this year as he successfully avenged his KO defeat to Alexander Povetkin in August 2020 with a fourth-round stoppage of the Russian.
Whyte received official confirmation from the WBC that he would be in line at his shot at Tyson Fury should he successfully navigate next weekend’s clash with Wallin, who gave the Gypsy King a difficult night himself back in 2019 as he survived a nasty cut in his final fight under Ben Davison.
The Sun are now reporting that Whyte has reluctantly had to pull out of the fight due to a shoulder problem.

It now poses questions as to whether Eddie Hearn will rearrange the bout or instead push for Whyte’s mandatory shot at Fury.
Speaking earlier this week, Whyte declared he got pull out of the fight to secure his shot at the world title but that is not his game as the Body Snatcher lives for maximum violence.
“Wallin is a dangerous operator – he pushed Fury all the way,” Whyte told Sky Sports.
“I am looking to fight Fury next if everything goes according to plan. I’m always up against it, I’m always in hard fights. I’m used to it.
“I could pull out of the Wallin fight just to fight Fury but that isn’t my mindset. I can’t wait around for what Fury is doing. My mindset is that I’ve got nothing to lose. I’m not scared to take risks. They see danger in fighting me.”
Fury’s father, John, has already urged his son to snub an all-British showdown with Whyte.
The 57-year-old believes the Gypsy King is a cut above to WBC intertim champion, who has already tasted defeat on two occasions during his career.
“He’s gotta go look for [Oleksandr] Usyk or nothing, in my idea,” he told talkSPORT “It’s Usyk next or nothing. Usyk or don’t bother.

“I wouldn’t bother with the rest of them; they’re not in Tyson’s class. Would Dillian Whyte deal with Deontay Wilder? He [Whyte] just got knocked out by a 42-year-old man [Alexander Povetkin].
“No. So why would they want to put him in with my son and get him knocked out? Tyson can’t get up for them kind of fights.
“For me, I’ve told him, Usyk or don’t bother. He can’t raise his game up enough for that fight; it’s not big enough.”
Usyk is set to rematch Anthony Joshua in the spring after officially triggering his rematch clause.
