Dillian Whyte has criticised old foe Anthony Joshua, saying that the former heavyweight world champion’s backroom staff ‘don’t know s***’. Whyte and Joshua have been forces in both the British, and world heavyweight boxing scenes across the last decade and are known for their rivalry that dates back to their amatuer days.

Following defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last month in London where Joshua lost his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles, the Englishman has been touring gyms in the United States.

His loss to the Ukrainian resulted in many calling for Joshua to switch up his coaching team, and weeks later he was pictured across a number of different American camps, as rumours began that he was set to remove renowned coach Rob McCracken.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the English coach’s future, Whyte has insisted that Joshua should stick to McCracken and not listen to others around him

Whyte told iFL TV: “I think Robert McCracken is a good trainer personally. A lot of people give him a lot of s***.

“They say ‘oh Rob is this or that’, but he’s made a lot of Olympic champions and a lot of world champions and he was a good fighter himself.

“A lot of these guys who are working with Joshua, they don’t know s*** about boxing, all these guys are pulling him in too many directions.”

While Whyte can understand why Joshua may want some influence from overseas in America, Whyte feels he should still stick by his long-time coach.

He added: “I can understand wanting an American because of their history in the heavyweight division, but what’s that going to be, four trainers?

“Does he leave Rob? I don’t know. It’s a bit mad, the whole situation, it’s like ‘what are you doing?’ So I don’t know.”

Following his loss in September, Joshua activated the rematch clause in his contract with Usyk to ensure he gets a shot at winning his old titles back.

Whyte had his say on his fellow Englishman’s chances a second time around, and believes he needs to attack the Ukrainian more.

He commented: “You have to make the right adaptation at the right time… In my opinion he just didn’t want to throw hands in the fight.

“He was overthinking in the fight, over analysing certain things, sometimes you have to just say ‘f*** it’ and throw something. I throw punches and miss them all the time, but I don’t care because you just have to let s*** go sometimes.”

Whyte last took on AJ in 2015, where the latter prevailed via a technical knockout in round seven.

Following on from his disappointment six years ago ‘The Body Snatcher’ has revealed he is more than ready for a long-awaited rematch, but it is up to Joshua to decide when he is ready.

He said: “It’s a bit mad what’s going on there, it’s his life, his camp… But he needs to make his decisions and see what he wants to do. He needs to sit down and have words with himself, he doesn’t really say much about anything, but sometimes it can cause even more confusion.”
