Deji reveals what Floyd Mayweather said during exhibition

‘I’m normally used to sparring people more technical’: Deji makes bizarre claim after being stopped in the sixth round of his exhibition against Floyd Mayweather… as he reveals what ‘Money’ said during the fight

  • Floyd Mayweather stopped YouTuber Deji in the sixth round of their exhibition
  • The 45-year-old didn’t take the fight seriously as he danced his way to victory
  • Deji did land a significant shot that left marking under Mayweather’s left eye
  • And the YouTuber later revealed what Mayweather said to him throughout

Deji has bizarrely claimed he is ‘used to sparring people more technical’ after being stopped by Floyd Mayweather in the sixth round of their exhibition bout on Sunday.

The YouTuber – whose real name is Oladeji Olatunji – came into the bout with a losing record of 1-3 and beforehand revealed his sole goal was to land a shot – which he achieved, with visible marking showing underneath Mayweather’s left eye.

But ultimately the 25-year-old was totally outclassed by Mayweather, who didn’t take the fight seriously from the first moment to the last, routinely dancing between rounds and interacting with Deji’s team throughout.

Deji strangely claimed he is ‘used to sparring people more technical’ than Floyd Mayweather following their exhibition

The YouTuber was stopped in the sixth round of the bout as Mayweather upped his work-rate

Mayweather, whose legacy was secured well before his 2017 retirement, leaving the pro game having won 15 world titles across five weight classes following his stoppage win over Conor McGregor, added another reported circa £28million to his bank account for his troubles.

The 45-year-old admitted beforehand that the fight was purely about ‘putting on a show’, and he did just that right from the first bell, leaving his hands by his side, skipping around the ring and even joining in with a chant of ‘come on Deji’ from the Dubai crowd.

Deji, who called out popstars Justin Bieber and Liam Payne following the exhibition, then admitted Mayweather wasn’t even fighting like a boxer, such was the American’s lack of worry about any adversity coming his way.

‘I mean, it was very unorthodox,’ he said, as per SecondsOut. ‘I’m normally used to sparring people who are more technical.

‘He was just having fun in there and doing whatever. He was talking a lot.’

The pair embraced following the stoppage, which was deemed by most as much too early

Deji went on to explain exactly what Mayweather – who was routinely speaking to members of his team throughout the bout – said to him in the ring.

‘I’m Money Mayweather; I do what I do,’ the 25-year-old YouTuber revealed.

Speaking after the bout, Mayweather insisted he was pleased for his opponent, stating: ‘I’m glad that Deji landed a good shot.

‘This is part of fighting, this is part of entertaining. Everyone wanted to see entertainment and that’s what we have them tonight.

Mayweather laughed and danced his way through the majority of the exhibition bout

‘I always want you to go after your dreams and what you believe in. I didn’t get to where I got to overnight. I had a great time, I couldn’t do it myself. Deji, you are a tough competitor, I’m proud of you, keep up the great work.’

The 45-year-old in his post-fight press conference then laughed off the injury to the eye he sustained, stating: ‘That’s cool, we had fun tonight. You guys wanted to see a little something. I had to close the gap and when you close the gap that happens.’

Earlier in the evening, Tommy Fury went the full six rounds in his exhibition bout against Rolly Lambert, after his professional bout against Paul Bamba was called off at the last minute.
